The General Directorate of Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands has confirmed the return of the Archipelago to the Games of the Islands.
The general director of Sports, Manuel López, explained that the Canary Islands had not participated in this event since 2008, since, in that year and as a result of the economic crisis, it was decided not to attend it. “The Organizing Committee has invited us to rejoin this edition and we have decided to go with a limited first participation to some sports disciplines in which, for historical reasons, we have stood out during previous years. In the very near future we hope to be able to bring a more complete representation”, said López.
